Hope for Tiny Paws – Kitten Foster Program

Every year in Western North Carolina, kitten season brings an overwhelming number of orphaned and vulnerable kittens into local shelters. Many are too young to survive on their own.

Hope for Tiny Paws is a foster program created to give these fragile kittens a real chance.

Launched by Catman2 in partnership with the Jackson County Animal Shelter, this program connects orphaned kittens with caring foster homes where they can receive the round-the-clock care they need to survive and thrive.

What Is Hope for Tiny Paws?

Hope for Tiny Paws is a dedicated kitten foster program focused on saving the most at-risk kittens in Jackson County and surrounding areas.

These are kittens who are:

  • Too young to eat on their own
  • In need of bottle-feeding
  • Recovering from illness or injury
  • Without a mother or stable care

In a shelter environment, many of these kittens would not survive. In a foster home, they have a chance.

Why Foster Care Matters During Kitten Season

Kitten season typically runs from spring through early fall, when shelters see a surge of newborn and abandoned litters.

Newborn kittens require:

  • Feeding every 2 to 3 hours
  • Warm, safe environments
  • Close monitoring for health issues

This level of care simply isn’t possible in a busy shelter setting.

That’s where Hope for Tiny Paws makes a life-saving difference.

What Foster Families Provide

Foster volunteers open their homes to kittens in need, giving them:

  • A warm, quiet space to grow
  • Individualized attention and monitoring
  • Bottle-feeding and basic care
  • Socialization in a safe environment

No prior experience is required. Training, guidance and support are provided every step of the way.

What Catman2 Provides

Catman2 supports every foster family so they are never alone in the process.

Support includes:

  • Veterinary care and medical guidance
  • Supplies and resources for kitten care
  • Ongoing support from experienced team members
  • Coordination with the Jackson County Animal Shelter

This partnership ensures each kitten receives the best possible chance at survival and long-term placement.
