Youth Club
Due to COVID-19, youth club meetings have been canceled until further notice. We may occasionally have Facebook Live sessions where we make cat toys for the Jackson County Animal Shelter.
Youth participants will learn about companion animals and the organizations that help them and the people who care about them in our community. They will learn the value of community service, enhance youth leadership skills, form new friendships and bonds with mentors, and get introduced to advocacy for animal welfare. The club will be led by Certified Humane Educator Kaleb Lynch and will eventually become more youth led, where participants will decide on issues that are important to them and come up with service projects for the community.
There is no requirement to volunteer at Catman2 (although we would absolutely welcome anyone interested!) or being around live animals for those who are allergic but still care about animal welfare. Service projects may include craft fundraisers, change collecting, supply drives, etc.
Our goal is to encourage children to be compassionate and empathetic, and to learn about issues in the community through a humane lens. We want the youth participants to feel like they are stakeholders in animal issues and know that their ideas are valued.
Caters to youth grades 6-8, but all are welcome. We plan to have a teen club and a younger club created at a later date.

Other projects that our youth club has taken on: making glass magnets to fund raise for Catman2's spay/neuter program, making panels for a large Animal Lovers quilt project, making posters to advertise for low-cost spay/neuter services, making adoption goody bags for those who adopt animals from JCAS, ARF, and Catman2, and more to come!
